How to remove peel-and-stick wallpaper

How to remove Luxe Walls self- adhesive peel-and-stick wallpaper in a few easy steps!

In the world of wallpaper, what goes up must often come down.  The Luxe Walls peel and stick wallpaper range is designed to be DIY & could not be easier to install. Simply peel the wallpaper away from the backing sheet and stick on your wall.

How to remove peel-and-stick wallpaper

No messy glue. No installation paraphernalia. No bubbles.

As a consequence, when the time comes to remove your wallpaper, the process is not much different! Just reversed.

We print on three different base cloths: Luxe Canvas, Luxe Linen and Luxe Crushed Stone. Luxe Canvas is our fully removable material which,  when applied correctly, can be removed with no damage to your walls or the wallpaper itself. Luxe Linen and Luxe Crushed Stone are repositionable during installation, but not fully removable after it has been on your walls for some time. Here is a step by step guide on how to remove all 3 of our base cloths.

Luxe Canvas:

Start in the topmost corner of the last panel that was installed. Gently pull as evenly as you can. Pull slowly in a downward direction being sure not to rip or stretch the fabric.

If you intend on keeping your wallpaper for future use,  have the backing paper ready and be sure the wallpaper does not stick to itself. An extra set of hands will be useful if this is the case. Simply, place the removed adhesive wallpaper panel directly on the backing paper, sticky side down. Smooth out your wallpaper, ensuring there are no wrinkles. Finally, roll it up & store in a dry location. Voila – your wallpaper is off and you have a fresh wall for a new print. Make sure you clean your wall before starting a new project.

Luxe Linen and Luxe Crushed Stone:

There are two methods that can be used to remove Luxe Linen and Luxe Crushed Stone: the Cold Pull method and the Heat Method. For both methods, a craft knife is recommended to assist the removal process.

Using the Cold Pull method, simply begin by lifting a corner of the wallpaper, starting on the panel which was last installed. Fingernails should do the trick, but a craft knife can also be used. Once you have pulled enough away to get a firm grip, begin pulling the wallpaper panel away from the surface to which it was attached. Try to ensure you pull at around 45° angle or less away from the surface you are removing from. A larger angle can increase the chance of adhesion and or wallpaper residue. Pull as evenly and slowly as possible. Repeat this process until you have removed all the panels. If you are in a cold environment, pulling the wallpaper can become more difficult. In these instances, slightly heating the surface can help the removal process, otherwise known as the Heat Method.

Use a heat source to heat the wallpaper for 30-60 seconds being sure not to hold it too close, approximately 15-30cm away. If you have a portable fan heater available, you can also heat the whole room prior to removal. Continue the process as described in the cold method, lifting a corner and pulling slowly. If it becomes difficult to pull, stop and reheat the surface as before.
