Luxe Walls’ wallpapers are the answer to every home renovator’s dream, and are especially designed to be DIY. Unlike traditional wallpaper, there’s no need for messy glue, costly wallpaper installers or steaming for removal.

The self-adhesive backing on all of Luxe Walls’ wallpaper allows for easy installation, and offers the option to reposition your wallpaper, preventing that horrible feeling you get when it hasn’t been installed to your liking.

Our Luxe Walls collection offers a vast range of removable wallpaper designs that you can change and update as often as you like. This means that you and your home can stay on top of the interior design trends at affordable prices.

So what exactly do you need to know about our adhesive wall art?

Check out our step-by-step installation guide below for the best results when using Luxe Walls wallpaper art…

BEFORE INSTALLING YOUR ADHESIVE WALLPAPER

December 16th, 2016 by

The best wall texture for applying Luxe Walls’ adhesive wallpaper successfully is a smooth, properly primed, painted and cured wallboard with little or no surface variation.

It is important to repair any damage on the existing wall before installation, such as loose paint and damaged, cracked or inconsistent surfaces.

Failure to do so may result in your wallpaper not sticking to your wall correctly, or could potentially cause damage when removing your wallpaper.

So what exactly do you need to know about our adhesive wall art?

Ensure all painted walls have been processed and cured as per the paint manufacturer’s requirements. Failure to follow the paint manufacturer’s requirements may lead to adhesion or removal issues.

TIP: Always test paint/adhesive compatibility prior to installation.

Please avoid the following paint finishes when installing Luxe Wall’s wallpapers:

  1. Flat or matte finishes
  2. Paints containing Teflon and chlorinated waxes and silicones
  3. Heavily textured paints
  4. Oil alkyd primers and enamels
  5. Existing wallpaper

Finally, we recommend asking a friend to help, as it can be tricky to hold the paper up and peel the backing away by yourself. Invite a friend around to help you install, and then admire your new walls.

PRE-INSTALLATION WALLPAPER CHECKLIST

Be sure to check the following before you install your wallpaper…

  • Your wall should be smooth, properly primed, painted and cured wallboard/gyprock that has little or not surface variation.
  • Check your wall for cracks, holes and peeling paint. Not repairing damage can lead to poor wallpaper adhesion and possible damage when removing your wallpaper.
  • Remember to remove any picture hooks – these can be returned after the wallpaper is hung.
  • Ensure your wall is clean of lint, dust and dirt.

We then suggest that you read the instructions in full before commencing your install. Once you’ve read the instructions completely, we also recommend that you have these nearby as you proceed to set up your wall art.

HOW TO INSTALL LUXE CANVAS WALLPAPER

December 16th, 2016 by
  1. After ensuring a clean, smooth wall surface (as outlined above), start on the left-hand side of your wall with panel number C1. Line your wall mural up with the edge of the wall and the ceiling, making sure the wallpaper is level along the top. Please note, walls and doorways are not always perfectly square. If you need to overhang your first panel, don’t worry you can always trim the excess later. It’s really important to get the position of the first panel correct as it will form the base of your wallpaper.
  2. Line your wall mural up with the edge of your wall and the ceiling, place your textured wallpaper in the desired position and tape to the wall with masking tape. Peel the backing paper down 10 cm and gently smooth a clean light cloth over the wallpaper allowing it to stick to the wall (don’t rub too hard or you may damage the print). Smooth all bubbles and wrinkles out as you go. If the bubbles are too big, gently lift off your wallpaper and re-apply. Alternatively puncture the bubbles with a straight, clean pin and re smooth. Complete this process until you reach the bottom of your wall. Don’t worry about the excess – once your wall is complete you can cut this off using a sharp knife.
  3. Line panel C2 up next to panel C1, again ensuring it is level at the top and that the images on adjoining panels line up. There is a 10mm overlap on panels C2 and subsequent panels to make this easier. Follow the same simple adhesion process used with the first panel. Complete these processes until all panels have been hung.

TIP: Ensure the panels line up at your line of sight. People will look at the middle of your wall, not towards the ceiling or the skirting board.

  4. Once your wall mural is hung, use a sharp Stanley knife to trim the excess wallpaper from the bottom and the right hand side of your wall (depending on the squareness of your walls there may or may not be excess here).
