Winners of the 2017 Australian Interior Design Awards Announced!

June 14 2017

Earlier this year, we brought you the shortlist for the 2017 Australian Interior Design Awards, and ever since then, we’ve waited with bated breath for the winners to be announced.

As we mentioned in our blog post, there was a record high of 525 entries, with Victoria taking the lead over the other states with an impressive 92 entries on the shortlist.

Now, the winners have been announced, we want to bring you the highlights…

1. Premier Award for Australian Interior Design: Indigo Slam – Smart Design Studio

According to the judges, ‘Indigo Slam’ stood out from the crowd of shortlisted entries because of its sculptural beauty. The building is a private residence in Sydney’s inner city neighbourhood, and also plays host to the client’s art gallery.

The project was commended for its clever design that offers dual functionality for entertaining and showcasing art and design. According to Architecture Au, “the jury can not fault it in any way”.

2. Interior Design Impact: Paramount by The Office Space by Woods Bagot

As we’re quietly wishing this office space was Luxe Walls HQ, it’s safe to say we’re in love with this design by Woods Baggot. The incredible use of space as well as the sleek, curved timber accents are just divine.

We absolutely adore the communal and yet private vibe of these offices, and of course – what’s not to love about the tribute to the old world New York craftsmanship?

3. Residential Decoration: A Private Residence by SJB

This residential decoration was celebrated due to it’s thoughtful consideration of a more mature client’s needs. The decor pays homage to the history and restoration of this grand heritage terrace.

Initial impressions lends an eclectic vibe, however upon closer examination every piece, no matter how big or small, is a carefully curated choice by the decorator.
