Artist Spotlight: Sarah Thorpe, 25 Years of Timeless Pattern

Some patterns shout. Sarah Thorpe's are designed to sit comfortably in a room, decorative but never loud, with the familiarity of something that has always been there.
Sarah is a surface pattern designer with more than 25 years' experience creating designs for companies worldwide. After two years studying art, she completed a further two-year course specialising in surface pattern design, and has worked in interiors ever since. Her collection is available through her artist page.
Where Old Textiles Meet the Natural World
Sarah's style comes from a love of nature, vintage textiles and timeless interiors. Her patterns start where those things meet: a woven check remembered from a favourite blanket, the clean curve of a mid-century shape, the quiet grain of linen.
That combination of traditional influence and contemporary feel is harder to achieve than it looks. A pattern that is too faithful to its vintage source can feel like a costume. Too modern, and it loses the warmth. Sarah's 25 years of designing for interiors shows in how consistently her work lands in between.
The Designs
Sarah's is the largest of our artist collections, spanning florals, botanicals, birds, geometrics and subtle textures.
Heritage Plaid and Country Plaid are woven-look checks in deeply liveable colours: Olive Green, Hunter Green, Dark Denim Blue, Warm Brown, Charcoal Grey and Dark Aubergine on the Heritage side, Sea Green, Neutral Beige and Dusty Blue on the Country side. They bring instant warmth to studies, living rooms and bedrooms, and pair naturally with timber and leather.
Leafy Vine and Fern Botanical are the nature-led patterns, trailing vines and fern fronds in soft neutrals, sages and dusty blues. They sit comfortably alongside our botanical collection.
Mid Century Oval Stripe, Mid Century Geometric, Modern Geometric Stripe and Lozenge Geometric Tile cover the structured end of the range: clean retro curves and geometric repeats in warm, earthy palettes. If you are browsing geometric, stripes or texture, these are worth a look.
Where It Works
Sarah's patterns are made for rooms you live in every day. The plaids suit studies, snug living rooms and anywhere you want warmth and structure. The vines and ferns soften bedrooms and hallways. The mid-century geometrics are ideal for dining rooms and living rooms with timber furniture.
Because the collection is so broad, sampling matters. Order a $10 sample of two or three designs and compare them in your actual light, then use the calculator to price your wall.
Original Art, Properly Supported
Every Sarah Thorpe design is used under licence and printed on demand at $99/m² on our removable peel and stick material, with a share of each purchase going directly to Sarah.
